Gutters and Leaders

Installing the correct gutters and leaders (or downspouts) is important to any building. However, it is especially important in the Northeast, where we endure all types of weather including rain, snow, sleet and hail. In order to properly transport this water from the top of your structure, the proper gutter and leader system is of paramount importance.

The main purpose of gutters is to protect a building’s foundation by channeling water away from its foundation. This helps prevent erosion and leaks in basements and crawl spaces, as well as protect painted surfaces.

Seamless gutters are the most popular type of gutters today. The biggest selling point is that they don’t have any seams that could potentially leak. The sections join only at inside and outside corners and at downspout outlets. Seamless gutters are usually formed from aluminum that has a baked-on finish, but they may be made from copper or factory-painted steel.

East Coast Roofing will choose the correct material for you depending on the characteristics of your structure. There are many different types of materials for gutters and leaders, including:

  • Cast iron
  • Lead
  • Zinc
  • Galvanized steel
  • Painted steel
  • Copper
  • Painted aluminum
  • PVC (and other plastics)
  • Concrete
  • Stone
  • Wood

East Coast Roofing will not begin installing your gutters and leaders until it fully understands your roof variance, roof thickness and roof slope. Once it has gathered all necessary information, East Coast Roofing will take measurements around the perimeter of your house before installing the perfect gutter system for your structure.

In addition to installing gutters and leaders, East Coast Roofers will clean and repair your gutters for a very reasonable price.

Be aware! Clogged gutters can be very harmful to your home. Clogged gutters can cause water leakage into your house as well as allow mosquitos to breed and grasses and weeds to grow.
